I decided to create this chart because I needed to have both the Pick 3 Sums and the Roots totals handy, in only one page, to use as a quick reference when I was ready to place my Pick 3 bets.  I had seen a different version of this chart in one of Maybell's newsletters and which I had misplaced. In response to one of my posts at Maybell's, crying for help, Lee, one of the many great predictors at Maybell's e-mailed me the newsletter. Just recently Larry also posted a version of the chart similar to John Maybell's as well as a chart with all the individual root numbers which was very nice. I want to thank both John Maybell and Lee for inspiring and helping me in creating this combined version of the information I needed. I hope it comes handy to some of the Pick 3 players out there.

I shared the chart with a few members at Maybell's and a couple of them e-mailed me back asking for instructions on how to use it, as it was new to them. This is the reply I gave (with some additional editing). I hope it also helps others understand the Sums/Roots playing method a little better. If anyone has any questions, you can find me at Maybell's Registered Forum as "AmuzingP3s" and I will try my best to explain what you don't understand.

Method Instructions

Use your own State's numbers to do your "workout."

The first thing to do is determine the sum and root totals that are due. Take the last, let's say, 18 winning numbers and add all the digits of each.  Make a list and see which sum is missing, or due.  Also, add up those sum digits together. Make another list and see what root is missing, or due. If the sum and root that are due match, and you can afford it, then you might consider playing all those 24 numbers within that sum and root in hopes that a winner might emerge from those.  In order to lower your bets (as well as your losses), you might want to pick and choose some of the numbers by using another method together with this one. Like Lucky's one up and one down system, maybe doing a tic-tac-toe, following Red's system, Power Trails by Robert Perkis as published in LottoWorld Magazine and found on Lotto-Logix.com, which has been explained many times at Maybell's by LarryG,  Sedertree's wheels for positioning, JoyJoy's system from Maybell's to compare your State's root/sum with hers, etc. Here is an example of a number using (Lucky's one up and one down method):

I did the "workout" for your State and it came out that Sum 15 is due, as well as Root 6 (see 1+5 is 6) perfect combination.  Please make a note of this workout, or print it out, for future reference.

So, if you look down the line, sum 15 is missing in those 18 games, as well as Root 6.

So, as an example, let's say that you want to use a TTT of the last winner, 824. You could try the Sum/Root method in that way in order to filter your numbers. Don't forget that doubles might be coming up in your State too, so it's hard to predict now.

I really like 591, but it's not touching in the TTT, which is one of Red's rules, but anything can come out! The 834 is on Lucky's method, but it's not touching in the TTT. It's up to you to add that one. The only way to play is to come up with all these numbers and try to eliminate as many as you can and still try to get a hit. But if we have a system, we are bound to hit sometimes with it. Beats the alternatives, except if one chooses to win by not playing at all.

I wish I could give you only one number, but if I could do that, then I would be a millionaire! LOL.

Let's not forget that we should only play what we can afford to lose.
